| Dr. Md. Mizanur Rahman Graduated from Sir Salimullah Medical College, Dhaka in 1993, was awarded a Japanese Government Scholarship (Monbusho) in 1995 for studying immunology & earned PhD in Immunology from Tohoku University, Sendai, Japan on March 23, 2000. His thesis work was published in the international journal “Gene”. Just 1 week after PhD Dr. Mizan joined in a faculty position as an Assistant professor in Tohoku University Hospital. He got a research fellowship from Virginia Commonwealth University, USA, and a grant from the Ministry of Education, Japan. He returned to Bangladesh in 2001 and joined Labaid Diagnostics as a “Consultant Immunologist”. Along with that, he worked as an Assistant professor and Coordinator of the School of Health Sciences of the State University of Bangladesh. He was the introducer of real-time PCR technology in Diagnostics in Bangladesh in 2002. While he was a consultant in Labaid and established PCR and Genetic lab. Dr. Mizan again got a faculty position as Assistant Professor in the Department of Immunology of Yamagata University, Japan on November 1, 2004, and worked till June 12, 2011. During this time Dr. Mizan showed (by cloning) the existence of an isoform of “interleukin-21”, a cytokine that has multiple roles in innate, adaptive, and autoimmunity. |
